Two of the most historical franchises in baseball are meeting in the 109th version of the World Series. The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals combined have a total of 18 World Series titles. In game 1 of this historic matchup the two aces for each team went head to head. Adam Wainwright pitched for the Cardinals, and Jon Lester for the Boston Red Sox. This hyped-up matchup in Fenway Park, didn’t live up to expectations, atleast on the Cardinals side. Boston jumped on Wainwright early and scored 5 runs in the first two innings. That was all they needed in the 8-1 blowout.
