For the first time in almost 100 years the Boston Red Sox had a chance to win the World Series at home in Fenway Park. They did just that defeating the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 in the series clinching game 6. Boston exploded in the 3rd inning with 3 runs and then again in the 4th inning. That was all they needed as the Cardinals could only produce 1 run off of John Lackey. David Ortiz won MVP for the series, he hit .688 during the series. This is the 3rd World Series title in 9 years for the Red Sox, all this after a 90 year curse before 2004.
