Chris Carpenter “Carp” the well known St. Louis Cardinals pitcher retired after 17 years in the major. Carpenter had been the face of the Cardinals rotation for almost 10 years. He won two World Series rings with the ball club, but is most known for his playoff performances, especially the one against fellow foe Roy Halladay in 2011 that clinched the Cardinals a spot in the National League Championship series. Carpenters statistics do not show how great he was in his prime. Fighting injuries his whole career prevented his statistics from being hall of fame level. Chris Carpenter’s leadership and presence will be missed in the Cardinals clubhouse.
